Broken Memories

When I was a kid, I was surrounded by talent.  In many of the places where we lived, my dad was the director in the local Little Theater Group.  My mama an' all my brothers filled parts in the many different plays that each group put on.  I used to wish I could play a part in one of those plays, but I never got to.  I've often thought about that an' wondered how it was that I never got to be in any of the plays.  Interestingly, I can't recall a single play that had a part for a little girl.  I think that just may have been the reason I was never in one of those plays.

Nana, my dad's mother an' Grampa', his step-dad, were also very talented.  They had both been in Vaudeville.  Grampa' started as a very small child, skating an' dancing.  He could do the sideways splits on the backs of chairs, on roller skates, when he was only five years old.  At one point, Grampa' was apparently one of the best dancers in the world, although I did not find this out until very recently and many years after he departed this life.  If you've ever heard of my grampa', Billy Rolls, I'd sure like to hear from you.

Nana was an aerial artiste`, hanging by her teeth from many feet above the ground and spinning.  I dunno' if you've ever seen this done, but its quite impressive.  I wish both of them had shared some of their stories with me before they passed away.  I've been trying to find out whatever I can to add to my Family History an' genealogy records.  Recently, I had a break-through when I received some pictures of my grampa'.  There he was, big as life; doing the sideways splits on the backs of two chairs.  The picture showed him as an adult an' he was wearing Tap-Dancing Shoes, rather than roller-skates, but it was almost as though he was reaching through the veil an' sharing his moment of glory.

All of the people in the generation before me have passed away.  That leaves me an' my brothers as the next in line.  I never thought I would be the next generation.  Now, I'm trying to make sure that my children an' my grandies have records of things their ancestors did.  It's not easy, when there's no one to ask about the details.

Are you writing about your experiences?  I keep a shoe box with notes an' tid-bits of information.  As I go through my day, I often think of things that happened to me or someone I love and I write a quick note; maybe two or three sentences an' pop it in the shoe box.  If I din't have those notes, I don't think my posts would have half the recollections that I've shared.  I do hope you will consider keeping notes about your life.  Just think what a treasure that would be to someone who cares about you.

Maybe you have a family member such as one of my grandies, who has a unique method for climbing the stairs;  doing somersaults all the way UP the stairs.  How sad it would be if I were to forget such an endearing act.  Is there something that one of your family members does that you'd like to remember?  Today is the day to make a note.  Then someday, when you have a few extra minutes, write a little more detail about your memory.  Someday, whether you realize it or not, someone will thank you, even if all you have is a shoe box full of scribbled memories.  At least, it will be something.

Until the next time, keep a hug on.

C'mere! Lemme' Show You

Hmmmm.  Was it something I said?  Maybe, I said it wrong?  Okay, I'm gonna' try this again, only this time, I'm gonna' stand on my head while typing.  This is gonna' be tricky, but bear... with... me; I think I can accomplish it... if... only... I... can... balance... wait a minute... There!  I'm standing on my head and now, I'm gonna' start typing.  Please ignore any typos.  There may also be strange thoughts that come creeping into the conversation; ignore those, too, k?  I can already feel the blood... rushing... to my brain and I think my brain has shaken loose and is floating up to my feet.  So... dizzy...

THUNK!!!  Yeesh!  Do not try this at home.  I had to pick myself up off the floor and check for bruises.  Hopefully, my brain (such as it is) has floated back up to my head; I actually think it works much better in its Home in the Head.

So, where was I?  Oh, yeah; I was wonderin' if I had messed up in the way I told you about my awesomely wonderful good news.  Since I only got two responses (thank you very much, Kristi and Sharon), I begin to think that I said it wrong.  I'm gonna' try this again, k?

I'M AN EDITOR!!!  I am an Editor!  I'm a real, live EDITOR.  Can you believe it?  Yeah; me ,neither.  Come on; I'll show you the site.  It's soooooo coool and I can't believe they're letting ME be a part of their project, but I sure am glad they are.

Oops!  I forgot to put Go-Power in the Little Red Wagon.  There; I fixed it.  Okay, make yourself comfortable.  We're gonna' fly on over there and look all around the site.  Ready for take-off?  Don't forget to buckle up.  Oh, yeah.  And I've loaded up your favorite snacks and drinks, so relax, enjoy and let's Flyyyyyyy!

Looky!  Looky!  We're almost there.  Aaaaaaannd... did you feel that?  The Little Red Wagon is magical.  Did you notice when we all shrank down so we could fly inside the website?  Yeah.  We're all really tiny, now.  That's so's no one on the website will notice whilst we fly around wherever we wanna' go.

Oh, look over there!  That's the Game Room.  There are some fun games to play in there.  And we're coming to the Coloring Pages.  Don't they have some awesome coloring pages?  I just love 'em.

Be sure to keep your hands and feet inside the wagon; just like when you ride in a train.  I think we're gonna' pause here and listen to some of the music in the Music Room.  I really like the juke box; don't you?  And the music is sooooo sooooothing.

Next, I'd like to show you where you can download some fun activities.  I'm gonna' tell you a secret, here.  There are some really fun things to do in the Activity Room.  I know on accounta' some of the activities are puzzles that I've created.

     Also, just in case you haven't noticed, one of MY recipes is in there.  Yeah!  You're surprised, aren't you?  You didn't know I was a Great Chef, did you?  Well you just go in there and look for the recipe called Bubble Juice and you're gonna' be surprised at how totally talented I am.  {I sure hope no one finds out that one of my grandies was the inventor of the Bubble Juice recipe}

Oh, yeah, and I almost forgot to tell you I even have summa' my poetry published on this site.  Did I remember to tell you the name of the website?  Its called Scriptures 4 Kids.  And the site is sooooo Cool Beans.

Oh, oh.  Look at the time.  I'm afraid we're gonna' hafta' get on back to Yaya's Home.  I hope you've enjoyed this tour and your flight in the Little Red Wagon.  I've sure enjoyed showing you around.

Be careful as you exit and until the next time, keep a hug on.

Is there no limit to the joy?

Last night, I promised to share my good news with you.  Lookie!  Lookie!  Mommy Tantrums has given me a pretty award... with CUPCAKES!  I loove cupcakes.  It is a Happy 101 Award.  And all I gotta' do is tell you ten things that make me happy and then, share my award with ten others.  Don't you just loooove Bloggie World?

Now, let me think.  Is there anything in this entire world that makes me happy?  hmmmm.  This could really tax my brain.  haha.  Actually, lots and lots of things make me happy.  Like, for instance, bubbles.  Don't you just adooore bubbles?  How could anyone not be happy with bubbles around?

I also get a particular thrill over air.  I find it so much easier to make it through my day when I have air.  Don't you?

When there are children around, I often break into giggles, so I guess that would classify as something that makes me happy.  And when its my grandies, well, we all giggle.

Water, for sure!  I am so happy that I can have water.  'Else, how could I wash my hands?  And I would have to eat my food with icky hands.  Eeeeeeewww!  So, water for clean hands.

Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.  Oh, and Pecan Praline, too.  Did I mention that Chocolate Cherry Ice Cream REALLY brings a smile to my face?  Yeah, pretty-much any kind of ice cream.  Well, not licorice.  And not mint.  But I like all the others, pro'lly.

Getting published, so if any of you are agents, don't hesitate to interrupt me here.  I'm more than happy to share my work with you.  :-)

Getting my own home would really make me happy, so if any of you happen to know where my home is... you know.  I'm just sayin'.

Knowing that you are here, reading my words.  Ain't it great having Bloggy Friends?

Knowing that tomorrow I will prob'ly know more than I know today 'cause I love learning new things.

And the ultimate happiness in my world is all of my family and friends together, watching some great kids' movies that have been created from books I wrote, having my grandies snuggling close and all of us eating all the ice cream and cookies we want.

Now, I am so thrilled to be able to share this award with these wunnerful people:

I hope you have had as much fun as I have with my award.  Please go and check out all these great sites, including Mommy Tantrums, whom I sooooo appreciate for giving me such a pretty award.  There is fun to be found.  'Til tomorrow's fun, keep a hug on.
