Eyeballs Frozen to the Snow Drifts

Is it still Winter where you are?  It is here.  In fact, it is snowing, even as I type.  This morning when I woke up the snow was coming down so hard that I was sure we would be buried by noon.  Fortunately, I can still tip-toe an' reach my eyeballs just above the line of the toppest snow.  Sorta'.  Actually, if I'm not careful, my eyelashes rest on the top of the drifts an' I'm afraid they might freeze there.  I don't want that to happen 'cause then, a car could come sliding down the driveway an' not see me an' my eyeballs an' I might wind up with tire tracks in my hair.  Talk about a bad hair day!

So, I'm gonna' hide out here, in my office.  If you want me jus' walk right across the top 'uh the snow an' tap on my second-floor window.  I'm sure I'll be able to let you in... the window, that is.  Who knows?  Maybe it will keep snowing an' you will be trapped here with me.  Then, we can have a grand party an' stay awake all night watching summa' my videos on accounta' I don't have TV piped in.

We can sit in front of the heater, downstairs, an' not be able to see out.  It could almost be like sittin' in front of a fireplace - - - if we squint.  Okie-dokie?  We'll put our cookies an' milk on top of the heater an' chat all night an' laugh 'bout how the snow has pro'lly trapped lotsa' folks.  When its all over we can go back to growing old an' plan on tellin' 'bout our adventure to our grandies.  Are ya' in?  I'll be watchin' for you.

Until the next time, keep a hug on.

Back in the day...

Do you ever wonder about your spouse's past?  Do you sometimes wish you knew more about him or her?  On occasion, I am blessed to hear some of the stories from my good hubby-buddies life, before I was his Significant Other.  I enjoy these times, as he had some interesting adventures and his storytelling talents can be quite entertaining.  Some of my favorites have to do with his time spent in the military.

Now, you have to understand that when I met my good hubby-buddy, he looked to be about twelve years old, so its difficult for me to imagine what he must have looked like at eighteen.  I've seen a couple of pictures of him in his uniform and I'm here to tell you, I wouldn't have let him out of the back yard, much less into the military.  But someone must have believed him when he said he was old enough because he spent four years in the Navy and several more years as a civilian, before I even met him.

As I listen to him talk about the days aboard ship, I often wonder if there were others like him who didn't look old enough to be out of middle school.  The night I met him, I convinced myself that he had to be at least eighteen years old because the church party we were attending was for those who were eighteen and older.  In my heart, though, I was pretty sure he had sort of crashed the party.  I'm happy to report that I later learned that he was thinking the same of me.

You know, I sort of miss those days when I didn't look my age.  *sigh*  Until the next time, keep a hug on.

Antique Double-desk ~ What a find!

Well, this is a first. I just learned of a blogger who is having an "I'm A Flea Marketeer Party" and I just wanted to spread the word. I'd also love to win the prize; a bag (as in, purse, I believe) made from coffee bean bags.  Now, could there be anything more charming?  I ask you.
If you'd like a chance to win this lovely bag, scoot on over there and post a picture of your blog entry about your favorite flea-market find. Mine is an 'Old English Double-desk' that we found for $7 shortly after we got married. In my home, it is now 37 years old. I wonder how old it was before I got it. It has stood up through my husband's college, all of my children's schooling and asundry neighboring children and business deals. All in all, I'd say we have gotten our money's worth, wouldn't you?
Here's the link to the party:  http://fleamarketstylemag.blogspot.com/2009/10/join-im-flea-marketeer-party.html
